I think it was just the other day that I was thinking we'd never had stitches with Timothy, which sort of surprised me given his level of activity and how gutsy he is. Well today was the day for that 'first.' Around dinner time Timothy picked up a knife off the counter (which he knows he was not supposed to do) and started to bring it to me rather than putting it back on the counter as I told him. When he brought it to me, he would not give it to me, so I pried it out. As I was pulling it away, he grabbed again and caught the blade. After some panicky moments, Sam stepped in to help me apply pressure, elevate it, etc. Our nurse friend Sarah was on her way over anyway and was able to assess it for us. She thought it would likely need sutures, so Sam & I and left Caleb with Louise and headed to the clinic. We went to a clinic that was still open for awhile where Timothy got three stitches in his right middle finger and four on his ring finger. The worst part, aside from the injury itself, was getting the shots in his fingers. If we kept him distracted with our faces, Signing Time!, snacks, and his stuffed bear, he did OK. Blogger isn't uploading pictures now, but I'll try to post one soon of his bandaged fingers.
