Family news and a couple links

The big news here today -
We got a call Sunday afternoon that my (Caroline's) dad had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. By the evening he had three stents placed and is doing remarkably well for having had a serious heart attack. We're thankful! He should be in the hospital 3 days.

On a lighter note, Caleb rolled over front to back for the first time today. :)

...and Timothy went to the doctor and has something going on with his throat. It is possibly strep, but we won't know right away. He's on antibiotics.

....and as of Monday Sam is sick with vomiting and fever.

March 26 post "Musings on Missionary Life"

Tim decorated his face with yellow marker and showed me his "fruit" (sugar and food coloring! ) snacks.

The surprise morning excitement: a street sweeper.

Tim invited Caleb to sit with him.

Tim is trying out a funny face from a book. He combined it with a raspberry sound and got Caleb laughing. It was really cute, and I think Tim was very pleased that he made his brother laugh.

Smiley, happy baby

This is so ridiculous Mom!

Sweet sleeper

This is Timmy feeling under the weather. He came down with a fever Friday in the middle of the night which broke sometime last night. He woke up 5 times last night and has seemed somewhat miserable. For lack of other symptoms, we don't know what's up....just taking it easy.

Garden Poll

We are thinking of planting a garden this year. It's my first since I was a kid, (Sam grew up on a farm.) so I'm polling to see what you like to plant in your garden.
This is my current wish list which has already reached an unrealistic level:
corn, zucchini, tomato, red pepper, potato, onion, carrot, butternut squash, watermelon

Easter and more...added 2 more pics

Tori reading to Tim (in my hat), Audrey & Joshua (Jonathan was playing with the ball popper.)

Louise, Gma B and boys

The Scrabble competition between my mom and Sam is getting intense. They are standing while they play this game in order to squeeze in a game before Easter dinner.

Tim LOVES this heavy equipment and was mesmerized by three machines working all at once.

Caleb bites/sucks on his lower lip like this all the time.

Easter attempt at a family picture...no smiles out of the kids though.

Tim has lots of candles on his birthday pie, because he loves to blow them out.

Happy Birthday to Timmy!

He really is two now. This is his new scooter, and he's having lots of fun with his new toys!

Grandpa's thumb is yummy!

See my owie?

This picture cracks me up. Tim looks like he is posing.

Beautiful Here

Diapering 101

Getting ready to ride down a steep rock....boring Mom put a stop to that.

"Ball"

We're getting closer to potty training. Tim will sit on the potty for quite awhile so that he doesn't have to put on a diaper, and he doesn't want to use the "little kid" potty seat.

4 month check-up

Timothy is running toward the camera here. It's hard to get a good picture these days, because he is either coming over in hopes of playing with the camera or is being a stinker and turning away from the camera.

Caleb is reaching up to bat at a toy. He's grabbing for things now and putting things to his mouth.

Sweet chubby feet

Our littlest chunk had his four month check up today and is a healthy little guy. :) He did fine with his shots ( so far anyway ) and is almost exactly the same size as Timmy at this age. (Actually Caleb was 3 days older than Tim was at his 4 mo check up.)
Weight: 16lb10oz (T 16lb4.4oz)
Length: both 26"
Head: 16.3" (T 16.5")

Reading Time....Tim loves big construction trucks now and will let us read this to him over and over again.

Awww - a moment of brotherly love.

Tim being his silly self

The picture above looks so much like Sam as a baby.

Land of the free???

California has criminalized homeschooling. I am not aware of all of the details, but a ruling by a judge on the appeals court would require all children aged 6 to 18 to be taught by a person with teaching license or degree. We would half expect this out of California, but it is still shocking, especially in a country that touts its freedom to such a great extent. We think it is outrageous and certainly undermines parental rights.

Focus on the Family aired a program about a court ruling which can be accessed on their website (dated 3/7/2008)

Momnesia - It's real, and I have it!

http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-03-03-momnesia_N.htm#uslPageReturn

Sam saw this article the day before yesterday and emailed the link to me. Yesterday he checked the mail and was curious as to what I had mailed to myself. It was a package for my friend, and I put our address on it.

Run Sarah, Run! We went out to cheer on Sarah in her 10K on Saturday. Good job Sarah!

Chillin' with Dad
Here's Timmy while we waited for Sarah at another spot along the race route. He and daddy threw rocks in a big puddle too.
