Used Car Salesman and Chunky Cheeks

Chunky Cheeks

Half smile

Caleb has on his "Flipper Slippers," and I think he looks like he has little dragon feet. :)

I wasn't sure what he looked like here with his hair slicked back and the funny look on his face...a used car salesman maybe?

Cold and snowy but beautiful

I learned the hard way that Vasoline is hard to shampoo out of hair.
Vasoline hairdo...Tim discovered that he likes the taste of toothpaste and asks "brush?" constantly (when not asking fir mints).

Today I just have a link to a sampling of pictures that Jen took of Caleb:

A few favorite recent pics

Caleb was exhausted after his photo session. It's tough being cute. Jen's photography website just went live! Check it out: www.jenkappes.com

Caleb is shocking me with wonderfully long stretches of sleep (9-10 hours uninterrupted).

Jen's daughter Avery "babysat" Timmy while Jen was taking pics of Caleb.

I love this pic of Tim with his cowboy hat and animals from cousin Amy who is visiting us this week. She has been tremendously helpful.

Busted!

Well, some people call it the terrible twos, and some people call it the terrific twos. Today I will call it the trying twos....and Timothy is not even two yet.
This is what I got for leaving Timothy coloring (not buckled into his booster) while I laid down Caleb in his bed. (Tim threw a fit trying to tell me he wanted the crayons in the first place, since he can't say or sign it. ) I heard the tapping of the crayon and knew that Tim was coloring on the tile table...a no-no. Then the sound started to travel, and I knew I was in for more. I came downstairs to purple crayon on the wall, two doors, and the floor. Between a Magic Eraser and elbow grease it is all cleaned up now. I had to look stern while trying not to laugh. Above is Tim looking guilty, and below he is helping to clean up.

Timmy loves to put hats on by himself now, so if he sees one, he puts it on his head. There are two pictures of his wild, hat head hairdo.

I really should be sleeping right now.

Mindy asked for more pictures of Caleb, and I got a little carried away.

Tim puckering up to kiss Caleb's head

Snowshoeing....We didn't make it too far. We were really overdressed and too warm. Tim fell asleep, and the clock was ticking until the baby's next feeding. It was great to get out all together and enjoy the beautiful day though.

Caleb had a had on, so his hair is fuzzed out more than normal.
Tim trying to put his pants on...notice he is putting them on upside down...

Dentist and more

Little T had his first dental check-up today. It went very well, and he was quite brave. He hopped right into the dental chair and was fascinated by the ceiling TV until the dentist started looking at his teeth. He wimpered but held still and was otherwise calm.

Caleb had his check-up and first shots today (so sad!). He is healthy, and here are his stats:
Caleb at nine weeks: 13lbs 9oz, 25" long, 15.25" head circ.
Tim at 7 weeks: 12lb 4.6oz, 22.5" long, 15" head circ.

Oh, and I was delighted that Caleb slept and 8 hour stretch last night. It was refreshing for me to get 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

25" - accumulated snow in the yard from recent storms

Tim shovelling
It's hard to see the snow depths in the flat light, but here are two mailboxes after being cleared off and dug out a bit...nearly buried due to snowfall & snow plows.
Yesterday's total snowfall on the back porch.

The kids around here had a blast! They built igloos & forts when not sledding or snowboarding. School was not cancelled (?!), but they were kept home anyway...no busses and no residential streets plowed.

Like mother like son
Many of you know I like P.B.
I gave Tim apples & pb which he gobbled right up. When he asked for more, I was nursing Caleb and just handed him the nearly empty jar.

Now THIS is winter!

We got another 16 or so inches of snow in less than 24 hours. We are so thankful for our kind neighbors with snow blowers! Above is the BBQ grill, and below is Tim shovelling, neighbors snow-blowing, a truck stuck, and kids enjoying the snow.

We had a visit from Laura and her little Dean. Below are Laura and Timmy.

Dean :)

Below is an attempt to catch Caleb smiling. I think his eyes will be blue.
Here is Dean smiling.

More snow!

We got 8 or 9 inches of snow today. This picture was before the road was cleared.
Sam and I got a good chuckle out of this...my hair after he rubbed my head. We had a long day with T waking up three times in the night for no apparent reason, pooping twice in the tub and being generally touchy all day....so Sam gaive me a nice shoulder and head rub.
Gorgeous walk between the snow stopping and the sunset
We are so glad we can just walk from our house to see this!

We had another get together with some college friends visiting from New York. Seth and Jen hosted us all, and here is Seth with Caleb.
It was so good to see Mike, Jessica, and Leah!

Jen and her girls...all so cute!

Sam :)

And finally, a new year greeting by Francis Ridley Havergal in 1874:

Another year is dawning, Dear Father, let it be, in working or in waiting another year with Thee; another year of progress, another year of praise, another year of proving Thy presence all the days.
Another year of mercies, of faithfulness and grace; another year of gladness in the shining of Thy face; another year of leaning upon Thy loving breast; another year of trusting, of quiet, happy rest.
Another year of service, of witness for Thy love; another year of training for holier work above. Another year of dawning, Dear Father, let it be, on earth, or else in heaven, another year for Thee. Amen.
