Quick update

Caleb is doing fine, although he seems to feel fairly miserable. So far I would say that this illness is not the worst one we've had. Caleb has a fever on and off and a runny nose. He's still drinking a lot, eating a little and playing some.
No one else has symptoms at this point.
...and Caleb swallowed his medicine in really chocolatey milk. : ) ...maybe I'll try some soda too.

Suggestions?

Does anyone have any tricks to get a 19 month old to swallow liquid medicine?

Quick update

Yesterday afternoon Caleb got a fever. When I took him to the pediatrician this morning, we got a surprising diagnosis - type A influenza, likely the H1N1 otherwise known as the swine flu. The test in the office came back positive for influenza, and the doctor said they've seen a lot of cases recently.
...so if you live in this area, be aware.
...and if you live in Idaho/Washington, we will miss seeing you all over the 4th, meeting baby Micah, and celebrating the big birthdays (90-60-50-40-30) in the family with you all!

Beat It and more

Above and below: pics of the boys playing with their Noah's ark and of them eating oranges

Enjoying a morning with a friend

We visited the zoo today, and this is the only picture with a kid looking at the camera. The boys had a blast, and passing construction sites on the way to the zoo was a bonus for them.

Tim and I went to the Evil Empire tonight (WalMart). I don't love shopping there, but I have to say, where else can you live and have such stunning views from the parking lot? As awful as trips there can be, the view on the way out is a breath of fresh air. Tonight we had the added bonus of rocking out to "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" on the very first Michael Jackson album Sam or I have owned. There happened to be two left at the store.

..and what did Caleb do while Tim was gone?

In Daddy's shoes....and looking like Uncle Ben as a kid??

Here he insisted that I put Tim's Thomas underpants on him...I think two pairs of them.

Caleb has had a lot of fun putting on hats, scarves, gloves, etc.

Enjoying a construction site

Cool Service

I read about this on a link from CNN.com, and we're planning on starting this for my Grandpa who is in a nursing home.
Basically they set up an email address for your loved one and print and send a weekly newsletter with all of their emails, pictures, etc. The person can mail responses in a self-addressed envelope which are in turn scanned and emailed back...ten bucks a month.
